How to Become a Searcy Firefighter

Prepare Before You Apply

  • Must be 18 years of age

  • Must have a GED/High School Diploma

  • Must possess a Valid State of Arkansas Driver’s License

Apply for Employment

FEAT – Firefighter Endurance and Agility Test

  • FEAT’s is conducted twice annually - Usually the first Saturday in April and the first Saturday in October

Interview

  • Upon successful completion of the FEAT’s, you will be given a time slot for an interview. If you are selected as a fire candidate, you will be subject to an extensive background investigation, drug screening, and a pre-employment physical.

Employment

Once hired, Fire Candidates must successfully complete the following 4 programs to remain employed as Searcy Firefighters

  • New Recruit – Fire Fighter Standards – 240 hrs. - 7 weeks of instruction

  • Driver Operator – Arkansas Fire Academy – 80 hrs. - 2 weeks of instruction and testing

  • EMT Basic – ASU Searcy – 1 Semester

  • Hazmat Technician – Hosted by ADEM - 80hrs. - 2 weeks of instruction and testing

Candidates will be furnished transportation, room accommodations, and meals while conducting fire training, along with standard benefits and salary.
