8-Year 1 Cent Sales Tax Update

In 2014 voters in Searcy approved a temporary 8-year 1 cent sales tax, also referred to as Fund 14, to cover specific needs that the City had at that time. The City presented citizens with a budget that included 25 categories from which the money would be spent. In June of 2022, the 8-year sales tax was completed. Over those eight years, the City stayed committed to spending the funds according to the original budget. Some adjustments were made based on feedback from the community but the majority of the dollars were spent directly from the original budget.
