Searcy Fire Department to Conduct Routine Hydrant Flow Testing
The Searcy Fire Department will begin its routine flow testing of fire hydrants on Monday, March 21 and will complete the testing on Friday, April 1. The testing goes from 8pm until 12am each day and will take place on North Holmes Road, West Valley Road, Honeyhill Road, South Booth Road, and East Main Street.
“This testing allows us to inspect our hydrants on a regular basis to ensure they are in top condition if they are needed to assist with a fire,” Fire Chief Brian Dunavan said.
During this testing, water lines are flushed in order to check water pressure levels and hydrant flow. The testing also removes any sediment or deposits that may occur over time.
Flow testing is done annually and is on a three-year rotation which means every fire hydrant is flow tested every three years. Citizens should let their water run for a few minutes to ensure that it is clear before cooking or washing clothes. If citizens have any questions or concerns, they should contact the Searcy Fire Department at (501) 279-1066.
