Searcy Recognized with Awards for Planning, Community Engagement, and Leadership at APA Quad-State Conference
The City of Searcy was recognized by the American Planning Association’s Arkansas Chapter with three awards, in the categories of Plan of the Year, Outstanding Community Engagement, and Planner of the Year. The awards were presented at the American Planning Association (APA) Quad-State Conference, which includes the Arkansas, Oklahoma, Missouri, and Kansas chapters and took place Oct. 7-9 in Fayetteville.
Searcy and planning partner Crafton Tull received Plan of the Year for outstanding work on three #MySearcy plans in the areas of Parks, Active Transportation, and Infrastructure, which were developed in tandem and resulted in three master plans that will serve as a guide for current and future projects in these focus areas.
The Outstanding Community Engagement award was given to the City of Searcy and Crafton Tull for the extensive and innovative community-focused public engagement process that informed the development of the #MySearcy plans and ensured that they were inclusive of citizen input and reflective of community priorities.
Searcy’s Director of Planning and Development, Richard Stafford, was recognized with the Planner of the Year award, for his leadership, dedication, innovative ideas, and skilled oversight of the #MySearcy planning process, among other professional achievements which culminated in 2024.
“These awards are a testament to the innovation, collaboration, and commitment of everyone involved,” Mayor Mat Faulkner said. “I am thrilled to see our community recognized at this level.”
“I couldn’t be prouder of the #MySearcy plans and what they stand for, or more honored to be recognized by my peers,” Richard Stafford said. “Working with Crafton Tull has been an amazing process and the experience and expertise they bring is priceless. I’m excited to continue this work with the people of Searcy to bring our shared vision to life.”
